Joyful Summer (Part 1)... @ 2:00 AM
Joyful Summer (Part 1)...
Joyful summer sounds wrong since it has been more rain than shine during this period of time...haha...First month of the holidays was boring, partly because i dont feel like doing anything other than rotting at home. But i did something that i enjoyed in May=> "prawning" with laiyi, henry and his gf at farmart. We went on a thursday morning(becos i told 'em its the best timing to "prawn"...haha). "Prawning" wasn't as easy as you think and most people will find it boring when they failed to catch any (ask laiyi).
Neway, Laiyi drew the "first blood" even before i had put my bait on the hook. Almost immediately, Henry got his first prawn of the day too (still i haven throw in my line becos i gotta help him get the hook off his prawn). It took me about 20min to get my first prawn of the day and it was almost at the same spot where i've caught one during the previous prawning session.
As time passed, Laiyi was getting restless. His spot was almost barren except for a few bites. Soon after he became a "feeder" since he always dropped his bait. Yet, due to the stubborness in him, he refused to change spot (die die muz get another prawn from that spot). For the next 3hrs, he juz simply rotted on the wooden seat. END RESULT: 1 prawn.
Henry did better than Laiyi, though he's was taking turn to prawn with his girlfriend. At least he bothered to change spots. END RESULT: 4 prawns.
As im more "experienced" than 2 of them, i agar agar knew the good prawning spots. Soon i got the hang of it and roughly catch the technique of hooking the prawns. I was walking around all the time to prawn the unprawned areas. END RESULT: 12 prawns. (beat them hands down!!) muahahaha.....
For the whole holidays, i only worked for 4 days (tuition not included), due to commitments in Odac(convenient excuse...haha). I was selling Toshiba laptops at the PC show from thurs to sun. The pay was quite miserable. Basic pay was like $25 per day and the commission was $8 per piece of laptop sold. Upon learning that, i felt quite cheated by Acetech(agency). $8 PER PC!!! Are they expecting me to sell laptops like hotcakes? DULAN!!
But being the only job of my holidays, i could only suck thumb and hope that i could really sell those laptops like hotcakes. The first day was sad as i could only manage to sell away 4 laptops. But along the way i picked up the way those experienced COURTS salesman talked. If my sales for the first day was sad, then my 2nd day must be disastrous!! I sold 2 laptops. But the funny thing is i wasn't sad or depressed at all. Hahaha....That was because i got to serve 2 chio bus!!! The first was a 混血儿 i think. Her features were sharp and her body was woohoo!! The 2nd was a mediacorp artiste=>李之仪!! She's very sweet looking in person but very thin also (comparable to Huimin...hahaha). I was acting professional, trying to promote my products, but deep inside i was dancing happily away.
Sales on the third day was better, since its the 2nd last day of PC show. But i was left heartbroken. After investing quite some time and saliva on the first chio bu the day before, i saw her leaving the PC show with a Fujitsu laptop!!! It was like 晴天霹雳...The 4th and final day of the PC show was tiring, after using up most of my energy on the first 3 days. Yet i quite effortlessly sold a number of laptops. I guess all the consumers were getting desperate and taking less time to consider. I started to slack at about 8pm even though PC show was only ending at about 9pm. Commissions was no longer on my mind because it seriously sucks.
Just when i was slacking, i saw this cute girl and i decided to take action again!! muahaha...She was my last customer for the day. She was considering between Toshiba laptop and other brand(which i forgot). Her only concern was that she's leaving for Toronto for studies and she needed to know whether there is a service centre near the university she's studying at. Being a friendly and helpful salesman, i ran in and out of the convention hall to check out all the service centres in that area. It took me quite a while to find out the locations of the service centres. Actually she was telling her dad if we could not confirm the exact location, she wouldn't want to take the risk of buying. But i think her dad paiseh im so hardworking, keep running in and out.(*muahaha) In the end, i did manage to close the deal. I think the company can consider me for the GEMS award lo. haha
End of the day, i felt it was a good experience working at the PC show. At least, i've took some initiative to approach people. Im not those aggressive kind but more of a friendly approach, checking out what the customers need and i will base on my own judgement whether the laptop im selling is suitable for them. I wont die die also must make them buy from me. I believed more in helping them to get the laptop that suits them the most, be it from other brands. I might be working again at PC show next year, but definitely not signing up with Acetech again!!!
End of May.....The start of a series of Odac events.....
