Day 5 in Macao @ 12:54 AM
Day 5 in MacaoHmmm i sort of just realised that Macau should be spelled as Macao...haha...Everything went smoothly today too, job wise. Personally, there were some lessons learnt and my mood was much better than a few days ago when i understand the "german style" or rather how the whole system works.
Had a late night yesterday, so was feeling groggy when i woke up this morning. As usual, i went to set up the ballroom and soon after the conference starts, i fell asleep. Anyway thats not the important point.
My boss taught me a lesson on the importance personal grooming towards the end of the day. I wore the shirt for the 2nd time w/o washing and i didnt drink a lot of water today (cos i spend most of the time sleeping in the conference room). So when he was near me and talking to me, he complained that i had a smell and got bad breath. (>.<) And den he told me that Europeans are actually very particular about this. I was quite sian diao but quite true, so i went to buy a deo-dorant!
Had another lesson, or rather great experience, while on standby in the ballroom. The ISBT (international society for blood transfusion) was holding their general meeting. I was quite impressed by the way they do it. They were actually doing a handing over today while the current committee was already elected in the last general meeting. Hence today was more of a report of the past committee, e.g treasury report requiring members to propose and second, chaired by the ex-president, followed by prize presentation to the winners of achievement award. Then, it was an introduction of the new committee to its members, followed by a Q&A on the directions etc etc of the new committee. It was quite an eye-opener, observing how a large organisation pass down the baton.
And in the evening, after visiting my other german boss Nikolai in the hospital, who had unfortunately broken his leg in his 2nd day here in macao, Roy (my direct boss) treat us to a Wynn hotel buffet dinner. It costs a whopping HK$278 per pax, which is around SG$50!!! The food is damn nice la!!!!! I ate at least 5 rounds. Every round a different cruisine. And i love the portugese and fruit tart. Oh and not forgetting the fresh oyster and mussels! i thought the mussels was good, something which i have not tasted before in Singapore. An intriguing experience indeed. Muahahaha...
