Joyful Summer (Part 3)...

Part 3 is the end to the joyful summer trilogy. Had been planning for almost one year for FOOT'07, though i only seriously started work in June. I was like a lost sheep, a sampan in the ocean, not knowing what to do for log ever since i've joined this committee. I go meeting for the sake of going, go for recces so i can play a part in the com, otherwise im standing alone. It was only after RJ and GQ joined that i had company during meeting. Still lost, but at least there is someone there to talk cock...hahaha...As FOOT drew closer, i had more parts to play...

I was at RJ's place to plan out the log flow with him on the wed before the FOOT week. We took 7hrs to work out the whole flow.(Most of the time was spent on msn explaining why serene is an emos...) Ever since planning out the log flow, i had problems sleeping the next few days. Once i closed my eyes, the log flow will be automatically ran through in my mind, for fear i might missed out some important details. It was like a nightmare. Very tired but can't sleep. So for the next few days before i sleep, i drank a bit of alcohol(vodka with rootbeer/gingerbeer). It worked...

Pre-prep day
The original plan was to meet up in school at 12noon to learn the chori chori dance. But as usual, most of the com peeps were late. Though i reached about 3plus, i was one of the earliest :( ... Nothing much to do much except for lazing around. It was not long before i suggested playing basketball. It started with me, peijun and alvin pek before the rest of the com joined us. Soon RJ arrived and asked me to do stores(sianzzz). He was teaching me and gq how to change the mantle of the gas lamp juz before the sky grew dark. (Trying to test our skills to change mantle in darkness which we half-succeeded...) Then the rest of the seniors and main com peeps arrived for the short briefing. Being low profile in odac and having not joined Foot'06, i dint know some of the people. Nothing much after the briefing, just some small talks before we sleep...

Day 1
The Freshies arrived at about 9am. My job was to open Activity Rm 3 and assigned them the spaces to put their barang barang. Then they proceed to play their ice-breakers. I thought the "captain's ball" was quite fun having the cabbage and chicken flying around and i joined in briefly. Seriously, the chicken is grossed! Neway i went off shortly to do some stores. Concurrently GQ was transporting the bikes from ECP back to NTU. Afternoon was rather slack for me, as i was chit-chatting with Angeline and RJ at the grandstand, while jagaing the bikes. Only sretched my muscle a bit while helping them unload bikes.

Evening to night time suddenly became quite hectic to me. I met Eugene at LT4 at 6pm, supposedly assisting him to set up his presentation. But i was quite noob and end up he almost did everything himself. (hahaha..) After arranging all the groups to be seated nicely, i went back to grandstand only to see RJ emoing there, not knowing(though i know later..haha...). I had to prepare quite some things for the night cycling. First i had to get ice from SRC (i almost emptied their ice machine), then i had to prepare milo(now u know who pao the milo!! hahaha...). Time flies and soon the freshies were back at the grandstand. I was a bit panicking as i was still now ready. Luckily there was quite some buffer time and i did finally finished preparing my stuff. However, some mistakes on my part, the collection of night bike stores were in a mess and i couldn't really account for everything. I could just estimate the numbers of helmet given out and pray that the number tally. Luckily it did.

Night bike started at about 11pm. Some hiccups here and there. I was in Munir's car following behind Denes. We stopped every few metres because one of the cyclist seemed to have problems with her bike and as a result, it caused a very big gap within the group. We were in school while the first half of the group was already outside Civil Defence. That gave me a headache afterwards. By the time we reach Home Team Academy, i received a call from yonghan saying that Gary's group was already at Brickland Rd. HOLYSHIT!!! I had to set up the quarry!!! So Munir sped off...We had only finished setting up half the route with lightsticks in the quarry when Gary's group arrived. I was getting quite gan chiong, at the same time irritated when my phone kept ringing.

Soon it was done and i gave the que for the groups to walk in. In the quarry, it was dark as there was no moon and we could only see the outline of the cliffs. The air in there was still, occasionally hearing the barking of wild dogs. There was a tree on one of the cliffs that looked like a big cross which makes the place quite eerie. The quarry advance party sat there for a while before the first group reached. The freshies rest there for about 45min before moving off to continue their night cycling while i had to clear up the place.

It was the end for my part during the night cycling. As we were all hungry, Munir drove us to have supper at Ah Fang. There i met Benjamin, my NPCC senior, who came back to help out in the NBS camp(how i wish i can join...hahaha...). After supper we went back to school, and i started working again almost immediately when the first group reached back. I had to load up all the bikes to the big truck and thanx to all the seniors who had helped out, the loading up of bikes was rather fast. Everything went smoothly except that we lost one white blinker light. Concurrently some of them was packing up the stores on the lorries, and i remembered i left a pack of durian on the ice on the grass. I went back only to find it missing and i thought the cleaner uncle had threw it away. It was only after the camp that i know mike and company ate them.(TMD!!! ate my durian!!! WTF!!!)

Day 2
We started moving off to ECP at 6am. I tried very hard not to sleep but to no avail. We reach ECP before 7am and the unloading was fast with the manpower we had...Jayren, Laiyi, GQ, RJ, me and finally SERENE!! (she arranged the bikes quite nicely..haha) But i heard from RJ that GQ was driving zip-zaply on the way to ECP and its all serene's fault because she was the V-com and she fell asleep!! So i assumed she worked doubly hard when downloading the bikes to atone for her sins...So i shouldn't praise her so much...hahahaha

Me and GQ went back to NTU first to fetch the kayaking team to Kallang to set up. I was sitting behind when it started raining somewhere along ECP. (knn) Luckily it didnt rain for long and we reach SDBA soon after. Moving kayaks there reminded me of the scenes during ATC pre-prep day. One night without sleep and im moving kayaks again!! TMD!! But i actually enjoyed the transporting part because i was able to drive without a license. hahaha...

After helping them move the kayaks, me and GQ went to return the lorry. We hollanded a bit here and there and was a bit gan chiong especially the fuel level was low. I tried very hard to keep myself awake during the journey so as to ensure GQ dont sleep drive and i was very relieved to finally reach Chan's Rental. As both of us were kan phua tired, we took taxi back to NTU. We immediately concussed once we board the taxi. Midway through the journey i suddenly woke up. I was thinking:"OH SHIT i fell asleep!!!" I turned to my right and realised GQ was also sleeping and i panicked.(i was thinking we were still on the lorry) It was only when i turn in front which i saw the taxi driver and realised we were on a taxi!!!

Back in school, RJ, Laiyi and Jayren were already sleeping. I quickly washed up and joined them in meeting 周公. 2hours later, i was awoken by RJ. Quite annoyed because i thought i could sleep longer. But still i woke up and went to prepare overseas stores with him for collection by the freshies at night. We purposely ask GQ to take photos of us as evidence that we got work!!! hahaha...The freshies came to collect at about 9plus. I was actually quite annoyed when one of the groups kept me waiting for 1plus hours in Store 8 for them.

Neway after the handing over of stores, it was the end of my job for day 2. It was 1plus and me and Laiyi was stoning in AR2 when most of the peeps had slept. There was a very large inertia for me to go bath. Eventually i went to bath and slept at 2plus having to wake up before 6am and move out as advance party.
